I’m not going to lie… I don’t understand why shows similar to American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and America’s Got Talent tend to be so popular. Can anyone shed some light?
I mean, sure, it can be interesting to see other talented people perform songs, dances, and other crazy acts. Sure, it’s interesting to watch what the judges have to say. But there are so many similar shows out there that you would think this craze would have died out already. Nonetheless, it hasn’t.
If you’ve never seen or heard about America’s Got Talent:
It’s a show that airs on NBC and each week, celebrity judges whittle down a group of chosen competitors with varying “talents.” Ultimately, the public chooses the winner. Could it be a ventriloquist? A mime? How about a magician? Or even a contortionist?
Here’s what NBC has to say about the show airing tonight:
“Hosted by Nick Cannon and presided over by the explosive combination of celebrity judges David Hasselhoff, Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan, “America’s Got Talent” brings the variety format back to the forefront of American culture by showcasing performers from across the country. The series is a true celebration of the American spirit featuring a colorful array of hopeful stars, including singers, dancers, comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians and ventriloquists, all vying for their chance to strut and perform on stage hoping to win America’s hearts — and the million dollar prize. The two-hour fourth season premiere kicks off with auditions shot on-location in theaters across the nation.”
Check out some past competitors from America’s Got Talent and see what they can do:
Definitely not something you see every day. If I do check out the show, it’s just to see what kind of people are competing this year. Give it a try, it’s always interesting to see what kind of talent these competitions bring. Who knows, you may decide to like the show… or you may be like me and change the channel when it comes on.
