I’m fairly open about my disdain for reality TV. Even when I find a show concept that keeps me interested, I can’t keep myself sitting through all the manufactured drama, petty arguments, and people generally making fools of themselves. As a result it’s not too surprising that I’m not really all that pleased that the Apprentice may be brought back from the dead to form some sort of horrible zombie lineup with the more popular version of the show, Celebrity Apprentice.
NBC’s exective vice president of alternative programming (is that really a job title? really?) told TV critics in LA that there’s a way back to the original version, although the network is currently reaping the benefits of the celebrity iteration. He claims, however, that the original Apprentice will still be relevant, opening the door to the option of bringing back the original.
I’m not so sure Donald Trump will be back for this one, either. Trump actually quit after NBC was still mulling over a seventh season when the sixth proved to be a bit of a dud. Martha Stewart’s apprentice was equally meh, so they can both come back to take part int he mediocrity. I have no doubt that they’ll spruce up the show somehow to make it..more appealing..for lack of a better word.
