Good news for fans of FX’s animated comedy Archer and TLC’s reality series The Little Couples: both shows have been renewed for another season.
FX has ordered a second season of Archer with 13 episodes, which is an increase from the original purchase for its first season.
“It truly earned a second season,” said Nick Grad, executive VP of original programming at FX. “(It has) one of the best voice casts of any animated series on TV. We’re very happy with the audience response and critical acclaim for ‘Archer,’ and are excited to move forward with it.”
The show has averaged 1.2 million viewers over its first seven episodes. Archer returns with new episodes on Thursday, March 4 at 10/9c. The first season finale will air on March 18.
FX recently picked up a second season of The League. And Louie, a semi-autobiographical half-hour from comedian Louis C.K., premieres in June.
Archer, created by Adam Reed , stars the voices of H. Jon Benjamin, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell, Aisha Tyler and Jessica Walter. Archer is a send-up of the spy thriller. Set in the fictional offices of private contractor International Secret Intelligence Service, Sterling Archer (Benjamin) must juggle his numerous romantic liaisons (Tyler) and continue to fulfill his contracts while under the watchful eye of his mother (Walter).
“I was just trying to figure out a good genre to turn upside-down,” Reed said.
Over at TLC, the network has ordered a third season of its series The Little Couple from LMNO Prods.
On Monday, the cable network said it had renewed the unscripted project for a 20-episode third season. Production will begin this spring for a June premiere.
The current season has averaged 1.2 million viewers for the network, with a finale scheduled for Feb. 23.
The series follows Dr. Jen Arnold and businessman Bill Klein, who are both under 4 feet tall. The third season is expected to debut in June.
