“Better Off Ted” star Jay Harrington has joined the cast of NBC’s comedy pilot “Nathan vs. Nurture.” This appears to be one more indicator that “Ted” is dead.
On “Nathan vs. Nurture,” Harrington will play Nathan, a heart surgeon who discovers his biological parents and underachieving siblings. David Guarascio and Moses Port are producing the show while James Burrows is directing.
Since “Ted” hasn’t technically been canceled yet, “Nathan” is in second place for Harrington and he will return to “Ted” on the off chance the show is not canceled.
He recently told EW he is “in no way to distance myself from Ted”, adding “I have had many conversations with [Ted creator] Victor Fresco, and we are both extremely hopeful that ABC will give us [another] shot, so we shall see.”
“Ted” earned critical praise in its short run, but wasn’t able to attract many viewers. If you’re one of the few “Better Off Ted” fans (like me) you can sign a petition to try to save the show here.
Harrington’s other credits include “Private Practice,” “Coupling,” “The Inside” and the Lifetime movie, “Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy.”
