On Saturday, 88-year-old Betty White made her much-anticipated debut as host of Saturday Night Live and the audience was not disappointed.
Some of the highlights of the episode included a death metal version of the Golden Girls theme-song, Betty’s role as a muffin chef on NPR, and her ability to have fun with her age, even getting a little raunchy at times.
Along with Betty White, the special Mother’s Day episode brought back some of the show’s best female cast members including Molly Shannon, Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch and a very pregnant Amy Poehler.
Betty had her fans on Facebook to thank for her appearance after they started a movement to have the actress host the show. She quipped that she’d never heard of Facebook before this adding, “and now that I do know what it is, I have to say it sounds like a huge waste of time.”
What wasn’t a waste of time was her appearance on the show which brought in the highest ratings for SNL in 18 months.
