Well it was fun while it lasted, but it appears that Brooke Smith will no longer be a part of the hit medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy. While she had a good run, it looks like the actress has been “abruptly” written out of the storyline according to a recent report over at People TV Watch.
Smith, whose part was Dr. Erica Hahn, had a lesbian affair with Sara Ramirez’s Dr. Callie Torres on the show, and it looks like the decision to cut her character out caught her by surprise. According to Smith, “Just suddenly told me that they couldn’t write for my character anymore. It was the last thing I expected.” If you’re wondering what will happen to her character..she doesn’t really know any more than we do, it appears. “My final scene is just me heading to my car,” says Smith. “I honestly don’t know what happens in the next episode.”
Rumors abound as to why she was taken out so quickly and what character will be brought in to replace her. After all they’ll still need a heart specialist (or whatever she’s called), right? I was never really that much of a fan of her as an actress, although I’ll admit her constant altercations with Yang were rather entertaining.
Fan comments on the article site seemed a little disappointed. Many fans of the show really enjoyed the storyline and were bewildered as to why they’d make this change in the show so quickly. Others never really liked her in the first place, and so her quick write out didn’t come as much of a surprise.
