NPR news is just one of those things that I’m happy to listen to on the way to and from work. It’s sort of hit or miss in terms of content, but it’s most recent guest on Fresh Air, Stephen Colbert, definitely perked my interest. You check out the whole interview here, but most interestingly he discusses his upcoming Christmas special, A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All.
You can also check out a trailer for the upcoming Christmas special right now on Comedy’s Central main portal site. Much of the interview talked about how Colbert and the show’s creators came up with the content for the special and how they drew on old Christmas specials of the past to use that for their modern satire. I think the show is hilarious, and I’m sure the Christmas special won’t disappoint either. He’ll also be creating his own Christmas Carols like “It’s Another Christmas Song.” John Stewart will also be making an appearance on the show, where hell be trying to convince Colbert to join the Hanukkah holiday. If you listen to the NPR interview they have some great clips of the duet between Stewart and Colbert (who know that John Stewart could sing? Not me!)
If you’re looking to catch the show online, your best bet will likely be Hulu. Comedy Central may have it streamed from their site, but it’ll likely be a few days afterward. The interview runs about a half hour long and goes through what Colbert’s done in the past and what he expects for the show in the future, a great listen.
