What about PBS in HD? Local KCET affiliate is not available in HD. I can’t find the national PBS even among channels I do not get.
High definition has changed the way we watch television. The clarity, color, and refresh speed makes it seem as though you are right in the action. DISH Network does have packages that include HD channels. Aside from the lowest tier DISH Network channel plan, each plan is upgradable to include high definition channels. It is a uniform price set at $10 per month.
However, depending on the level and number of channels you receive, the higher you go, the more HD channels you will get. If you have the lowest Classic Bronze 100, you can add on 55 HD channels. These include ESPN, ESPN2, A&E, MTV, TBS, TNT, USA, Syfy, The Weather Channel, and more. There is something for everyone from the news person to sports fan to kids shows. If you decide to go for the highest tier that is Classic Golf 250 (or the Everything Pak), then you get all the 55 previous high definition channels as well as other such as Biography, Encore, Tennis Channel, Versus, and the Hallmark Channel (80 in total). If you’re fine with the 55 channels of HD, then you will at most pay $29.99 per month (the Classic Bronze 100+ and the extra $10 HD add on fee) for 12 months. If you order the Classic Silver 200, you receive 70 HD channels at $44.99 per month. And finally for the 80+ HD channels, you would have to pay a minimum of $54.99 or just bite the bullet and get the Everything Pak for $89.99 per month.
DISH Network does feature channels that DirecTV does not such as Versus. I can’t see this being the breaking point to many subscribers but if you are a hockey or bull riding fan, this is definitely a huge crossroads for you since DirecTV does not offer the channel.
Make sure that even though you have a package that has HD channels, you still need the HD receiver as well as an HD television to watch it on. You’d be surprised how many people fail to take this into account.
