Joss Whedon did it again– created another sci-fi hit and casted the beautiful and talented Eliza Dushku. She plays “Echo,” an ‘active’ or a ‘doll’. Hidden in their secret facility known as the (wait for it, wait for it) Dollhouse, they have their personalities erased so that they can take on their assignments.
So that all is ideal, right? After every mission, they have their memories erased to get them in shape and ready for the next mission. Until, that is, Echo’s memory starts to return and she slowly begins to remember her former life.
The show has been hit and miss this season and Fox is still in negotiations on whether or not they will continue the show on to next season. Many of the shows fans have followed Whedon’s lead and anxiously tuned in to Dollhouse week after week hoping for some of that same spark that he ignited in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but it’s fallen a little flat.
But there is lots of drama surrounding this finale. And it’s confusing and I’m still scratching my head to figure it all out. Long story short, Fox and Fox network television didn’t agree on how many episodes to purchase; therefore, there are some myterious rumors floating around that there are 14 episodes that were produced, only 12 will be aired, and one is going to straight to DVD. Confused? Yeah, me too.
But that’s okay, fans! “Omega” will be airing on Friday, May 8 at 9PM/8PM CST on Fox. Echo will be risking her life and she may even be accompanying Alpha on an illegal but exciting mission. But who knows what Alpha’s plan is in the long run? After all, he has 43 personalities. And that’s about 42 personalities too many.
Will there be a season 2? Fox doesn’t know and we don’t either. But the finale will be an interesting wrap up to the series, and hey, you can always pick up the DVD once it’s been released!
