Recently Apple released the 8th version of its popular iTunes software. Although many new features were added, I have to say that my favorite is the fact that now most TV shows are available to download in HD. I’ve been waiting for this for awhile, Apple previously launched movie rentals on iTunes which gave you the option to rent movies in HD which you can then play on your computer, iPhone, iPod, or even your television if you have an Apple TV.

One word of caution, if you are planning on downloading HD TV shows from iTunes make sure you have PLENTY of hard drive space available. I bought the first season of Heroes and it was over 30GB of video. My Macbook Pro only has 120 GB – so obviously my external hard drive is going to come in handy. HD TV shows on iTunes are priced at a reasonable $2.99 per episode, one dollar more than standard definition episodes.

Oh, and NBC shows are also back on iTunes, which is awesome.
