SyFy is taking an oldie and trying to turn it into a new goodie: Ghost Hunters Academy. Two of our loved and esteemed ghost hunting colleagues, Steve and Dave Tango, will be taking a group of newbies and dropping them in some of the most haunted places and turning them into classrooms.
Here’s what SyFy has to say about the new show:
“Ghost Hunters Academy features a group of aspiring ghost hunters exploring some of the most haunted locations in the country and around the world. Led by veteran ghost hunters and TAPS members Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango, the recruits train, hands on, in the paranormal arts.
The new recruits venture outside conventional classroom walls, tackling new paranormal hotspots as well as favorite old haunts from Ghost Hunters, including Fort Mifflin (Pennsylvania), Eastern State Penitentiary (Pennsylvania), and St. Augustine Lighthouse (Florida). If they make the grade, the Academy members may be invited to investigate with the Ghost Hunters or Ghost Hunters International teams. If they don’t, they may be sent packing. Who will prove to be the worthiest paranormal investigator? You’ll have to watch and see.”
As a huge Ghost Hunters fan, I’m rarely ever a fan of spinoffs, such as Ghost Hunters International (the guys on there just grate my skin) or the Halloween special that they try and do live. Even as the show grows in popularity, I’ve felt that the quality of the “hunting” has diminished the tiniest bit.
If the students pass the course, they can “graduate” and become investigators on Ghost Hunters or Ghost Hunters International, according to SyFy.
But still, I have high hopes for the Academy! Can’t wait to check the show out tonight (November 11) on the SyFy channel!
