I’ve heard it all, ladies and gentleman. Let’s be honest. I’m getting quite worried about the state of my television programs. Don’t get me wrong. I understand the logistics behind reality television and hey, some of my favorite shows are reality. I get it, I really do.

But when I came across this… gem, well. Let’s just say my scalp is a little sore from all the scratching my head I was doing.

I mean, of course there are men, who stay at home while the wives work. Some of them may be working from home, taking care of the kids, or playing Playstation all day. But… does there really need to be a show about this?

I’m just honestly curious– what will this show have that others don’t? Men who get to live on their wives “bacon” as the preview so sweetly filled me in.

These aren’t the typical house husbands, either.

“In their past lives, some of these guys had macho jobs. Grant Reynolds was a Marine sniper, Billy Ashley was a major-league baseball player, Charlie Mattera … well, robbed banks.

These men get occasional acting jobs. (The exception is Ashley, who helps with his wife’s cosmetics line.) Mostly, however, they have lots of home time. Reynolds restores motorcycles; Barclay built a tap-beer dispenser – big and black – that his wife banished to the garage.

And the dads focus on their kids, in their own way. “It is a charming thing,” said Scooter Pietsch, one of the producers. “Billy yells constantly and the girls – being raised with that – have come to completely ignore it.”

Ashley agrees. “She brainwashes them at night,” he said, “ tells them: ‘Don’t listen to your dad while I am gone. When I come back, I’ll give you everything that you want.’”

That’s one of the problems a househusband might learn to tolerate.”

It sounds like an interesting mix of people on the show. But will the show be a bust? I have yet to determine.
