It looks like Michael Scott will be putting in his two week notice next spring.
Steve Carell has officially confirmed that he’s leaving The Office following the 2010-2011 season.
As we’ve reported, its been rumored for months that Carell was planning to exit the show but the actor finally addressed the situation over the weekend.
“Yes, it will be my last season”, Carell told UsMagazine.com at Sunday’s Despicable Me premiere in Hollywood. “It’s the last on my contract, and I want to honor my contract.”
NBC has stated that they will most likely continue in his absence.
Carell further explained, “I am excited — just so I can spend more time with my family.”
He and his wife Nancy have two kids, Elisabeth Anne, 9, and John, 6.
Steve Carell debuted as Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott on The Office, an American adaptation of the British original, in 2005. He won a Golden Globe award and has earned 4 Emmy nominations for the role.
“I’m sure I’m going to be very nostalgic”, he added about leaving the show. “I mean, these are some of my best friends in the world! But it will be good — it will be good for everybody.”
