Jerry O’Connell has just signed on to star in NBC’s dramedy series “Rex Is Not Your Lawyer”, replacing Sendhil Ramamurthy just days after the “Heroes” regular was cast in the role. According to an NBC rep, Ramamurthy withdrew from the pilot because of scheduling issues. Lindsay Kraft and Cleo King have recently been cast in the pilot as well.
“Rex” stars David Tennant as Rex Alexander, a top Chicago lawyer who suffers from panic attacks so he starts to coach clients on representing themselves in court rather than face the courtroom on his own. O’Connell will play an ambitious but good-natured lawyer who was in Rex’s shadow until Rex’s painc attacks began affecting his perfomrance. TO complicate matters further, OConnell’s character’s not only after Rex’s positon in the law firm, but also his fiancee who he has fallen love with (played by Abigail Spencer).
Kraft (“Epic Movie”) plays Rex’s assistant by day and a struggling singer-songwriter by night. King (“The Hangover”) plays a serious private-school bus driver who was coached by Rex in a wrongful-termination case. Comedy veterans Jane Curtin and Jeffrey Tambor also co-star in the series.
“Rex Is Not Your Lawyer” began filming over the weekend around Los Angeles. Today they are filming at 515 W 7th St and 801 S Figueroa St in downtown L.A.
