With much of the previous season (the now ended Villains segment) focused around Sylar searching for the truth about his past while also deciding to continue to kill everyone with powers that he happens to encounter, Sylar finally learned that Arthur is not in fact his dad. He knows for sure too, since he ate a guy who detects lies (I know, he doesn’t eat them per se, but work with me). So naturally next season it makes sense that he’ll find out a little more about his real parents. So will we, apparently, since Sylar’s dad has officially been cast with the addition of John Glover to the show.
As to what will happen in Volume 4, titled Fugitives, we found out some a bit of information from a Heroes insider:
“When Sylar meets his father, he’s going to see a path ahead of him that he doesn’t want to take. He has a lot more in common with his father than he realized.”
So..speculation. Sylar’s dad is likely to be as despicably evil as he is..and maybe he decides that he doesn’t want to be so mean and murderer-like. On the other hand, perhaps his father sets him up to do something he wants no part in. Or, finally, his dad is a nice guy (unlikely) and Sylar decides he’s a fool. Whatever the case, I’m sure it’s going to be interesting, and Glover is no stranger to the small screen. He actually played Lex Luthor’s dad for seven seasons of Smallville, where many fans of the show enjoyed his role there. How does one get type cast as the ideal father of science fiction villains? I may never know.
