In the midst of their very public divorce and marital troubles, Jon and Kate have released a statement requesting their privacy.

“During this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family. This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation. Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible. We appreciate the understanding, support and well wishes from so many.”

Personally, I think it’s just too little, too late. This statement should have been issued way prior to all this nonsense in the media and certainly should have trumped the idea of creating an additional hour special in which various divorce issues were discussed.

Many have said that they are loving every last minute of the media attention, Kate especially.

In other Jon and Kate  news, Kate seems to have hired a new bodyguard. Maybe that was to dispell the rumor of her involvement with her previous body guard?
