Journalist Lisa Ling is going to be heading back to familiar grounds. She is going to return to The View as a guest cohost on October 5 and 6. Lisa says, “[she’s] ready to jump back into things with [her] pals Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd, while Elisabeth Hasselbeck is on maternity leave.”
She’s really thrilled and ready for some “serious debate”.
Ling joined The View on August 2, 1999, and left the show after three and a half years towards the end of 2002 to go back to international reporting. She was responsible for proposing segments like investing for women, and, according to Ling, her goal was to say one thing each day that would make people think, whether it made them cheer or made them throw things at their TV. She drew both fire and praise for her comments after the September 11, 2001 attacks, in which she said, “What happened to the United States was a catastrophic event and the worst terrorist attack in human history. Yet maybe before we seek revenge, we should ask the question – why should anyone want to make such an attack on the U.S.?”
This summer, Lisa went through a scary ordeal, after sister Laura Ling was detained in North Korea. She was finally released and reunited with her sister on Aug. 5. Lisa is also correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show.
It will be an interesting two days with I’m sure some lively debate from the always intelligent Lisa Ling.
