The much-publicized negotiations between MTV and the the cast of The Jersey Shore over their second season salaries have stepped up a notch.
Over the weekend, news broke on the internet that the Jersey Shore cast had turned down MTV’s first season two offer of $5,000 per episode plus a $10,000 signing bonus.
Reportedly, MTV returned by doubling their per episode offer to $10,000 per cast member. Apparently, the cast made it clear they were using a “Friends-style” bargaining approach where they would only negotiate as a group and not everyone was on board with MTV’s offer.
Today, TMZ is reporting that MTV has called their bluff by setting a deadline of end-of-business today for the cast to accept its latest offer or the network will replace them all. If some do agree to the offer and others don’t they will mix in newbies with the current cast members who accept the offer.
Insider sources claim that wannabe guidos and guidettes have been sending audition tapes to MTV for months so they may already have some back ups in place.
TMZ says that Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Pauly “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio are, not surprisingly, the toughest negotiators of the bunch.
Do you think the cast will stick together in their negotiations or go their separate ways?
