NBC had decided to pick up Community, Parks and Recreation and Mercy for full seasons, the network announced on Friday.
Community started off in the 9:30/8:30c time slot with 7.88 million viewers before 30 Rock returned two weeks ago. Though its ratings have dropped in its new 8/7c time period (replacing SNL’s Thursday night show), it has increased 12 percent in the coveted 18-49 demographic. The show now averages 5.7 million viewers overall.
Parks and Recreation, starring Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones, averages 4.8 million viewers but hit an all time high on Thursday when it added another 100,000 viewers.
Mercy, starring Taylor Schilling and Michelle Trachtenberg, has an average of 7.8 million viewers weekly. In its last three airings, the new medical drama has finished first in the 9/8c time period. Now that the show has been picked up, they are already planning on having a few notable guest stars including Mad Men’s Elizabeth Moss.
