NBC chose not to run a commercial from PETA that depicted a little girl saying grace on Thanksgiving Day. The ad doesn’t show anything graphic or offensive but but it does describe some of the darker aspects of factory farming, like the fact that turkeys are often abused, have little room to move and experience horrific deaths.
NBC turned down the advertisement, which PETA specifically wanted to run during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, because it “does not meet NBC Universal standards”. The network did request more “proof” backing up the claims in their commercial and reportedly, PETA sent them this NY Times article to back up their statements but the network didn’t find it to be satisfactory support for their accusations, or maybe they just didn’t want to ruin all of America’s Thanksgiving dinner.
