Last night, Beyonce broke the record for most Grammys won by a female artist in one night when she collected six statuettes during the ceremony.
The singer, who was nominated for 10 awards, won song of the year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and best female pop vocal performance for “Halo.” But, she lost the big prize, album of the year, to Taylor Swift who won for Fearless. At 20, Swift is the youngest person to ever win in the category.
Before last night’s win, Beyonce was in a six-way tie with Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Alison Krauss and Amy Winehouse for most Grammys won by a female artist in one ceremony (five). Her Grammy total as a solo artist is currently up to 13.
