It looks like comedian Aziz Ansari, best known for his role as Tom Haverford in NBC’s “Parks and Recreation”, will host the 2010 MTV Movie Awards host.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Aziz Ansari is finalizing a deal to host the awards show, which airs June 6 on MTV. That will be the same week that Ansari’s comedy “Get Him to the Greek” hits theaters. “Greek” also stars Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. The awards show and the movie premiere aren’t the only good news for Ansari. “Parks and Rec” was also just picked up for a third season and his solo stand-up comedy tour kicks off this summer.
The nominees for the MTV Movie Awards haven’t bee announced yet, but considering “Twilight” was a big winner last year, “New Moon” will probably be a big hit at this year’s ceremony.
We don’t know who Aziz will be rooting for at the movie awards, but we know who he’ll be pulling for at next year’s Grammys. Aziz recently tweeted, “The best show on TV right is BREAKING BAD. Watch that shit. New season premieres tonight at 10/9c on AMC.”
