Drama was set off behind-the-scenes of The View yesterday after the White House party crasher, Michaele Salahi, and her The Real Housewives of D.C. co-stars, sat down with Joy Behar and Sherri Sheperd, to discuss their new show and, of course, the White House incident. During the interview, Whoopi Goldberg came out on stage and whispered, “Excuse me, can you get back to the White House.” She also tapped Salahi on the side. It all happened so quickly that viewers could barely see it.
After the show was over, Salahi reportedly got into a shouting match with Whoopi. According to a show publicist, “After the show, Ms. Salahi and her husband accused Whoopi of hitting Ms. Salahi. As the broadcast clearly shows, the accusation was completely unfounded and erroneous. After the show and after being told she was being accused of hitting Ms. Salahi, Whoopi proceeded to defend herself verbally from this baseless claim in a heated exchange with the Salahi’s.” Other sources say Whoopi threw quite a few f-bombs at Salahi after she accused Whoopi of hitting her.
On The Today Show, Salahi gave her side of the story this morning:
“I didn’t do anything. I was just a guest,” she said. Expaining, “I walked off the show and said goodbye and was in the back. And Whoopi came in and said, ‘F this, f that, Did you say I effing hit you?’ I was waiting for a car.”
She says the swearing upset her. “When I got off (the show) I was still fine, but I think her coming in saying f this, f that.” Salahi says she told her, “I never said you hit me. You grabbed my arm. … I think I started crying … because they berated me,” she said referring to being called a party crasher several times during the interview.
Salahi says that Whoopi told her, “‘You don’t know me. I say f you, but I don’t mean that.'” But, Salahi said, “I don’t know that. I know her from Sister Act, so I don’t expect a sister to say f you.”
Whoopi also made a statement this morning on The View, acknowledging that she did get heated with Salahi but it was only because she accused Whoopi of hitting her. They also replayed the incident from various camera angles to prove Whoopi only tapped her on the shoulder.
