“The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s” Danielle Staub and the rest of the cast return on May 3 for a second season, just in time for the release of Staub’s autobiography, “The Naked Truth,” on May 25.
But, before Danielle could start celebrating, her ex-husband Kevin Maher filed a lawsuit against the reality star saying that she was lying about him and he wants her to take a lie detector test to prove it.
In October of last year, Maher filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against Staub charging her with defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Maher is suing for a total of $5 million.
The lawsuit involves information Staub allegedly revealed to People magazine last year. Maher says that People writer Mark Dagostino approached him about a series of allegations Staub had made about him during an interview. Staub claimed that Mahar:
-raped her “on a bed of broken glass”
-“inserted his handgun inside” her and “played Russian Roulette”
-killed her “dog by way of hanging”
Maher challenged Staub to a lie detector test in response to her claims and then, last month, against his attorney’s advice, Maher took a polygraph test himself, which he passed with flying colors.
“Once you’re labeled a rapist and a dog-killer, what’s next? A pedophile?” Maher says. “That’s the category that she put me in by these outrageous lies. She told different variations of how I raped her to her cast mates, who will all be deposed. None of her stories made sense and that’s all going to come out.”
There is no official word from Danielle’s camp involving the incident, maybe they’re waiting until the cameras are rolling.
