Samsung has announced that they are adding the ability to stream Netflix to two of their Blu-ray player models. The Samsung BD-P2550 and BD-P2500 will both be able to connect to the streaming Netflix service via a wired internet connection. Samsung has also announced they plan to add Netflix streaming to more of their entertainment products, hmmm..built in support for Plasma and LCD TV’s anyone?

This move is in addition to LG’s recent announcement that they will be adding Netflix streaming support to their Blu-ray players. Microsoft has also made streaming Netflix movies available for Xbox 360 owners earlier this year.

I think that since more and more devices are getting an internet connection, its a no brainier to include a service like Netflix as an added value. I’ve seen this coming for a long time and I think it will continue to hurt Blockbuster, which will probably see its demise in the next few years.
