It’s almost time to say goodbye to quirky Adrian Monk.
Season eight of Monk begins airing August 7, 2009 on USA Network. The eighth season will be the finale season of Monk. The show is set to conclude after 16 episodes in early 2010.
It has been confirmed that Bitty Schram, who portrayed Sharona Fleming in seasons 1-3, will return for a guest appearance at some point in the final season. Other guest stars include Bernie Kopell.
If you’ve never had a chance to check out the show before, it’s a drama about Detective Adrian Monk. He used to have a minor case of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Then, the murder of his wife and his inability to solve the case exacerbated his condition to the point where he finds it impossible to function in society without assistance. He hires Sharona Fleming, a nurse and single mother, as his personal assistant, as well as his Watson for when he investigates cases the police can’t solve to pay the bills. After three seasons Sharona got tired of the frustrating job and remarried her husband. Monk’s new assistant is Natalie Teeger, whose loss of her own partner allows her a deeper bond with him than Sharona could ever have.
The show is definitely interesting and it is a different perspective than most detective dramas that air nowadays. A lot of comedy, a lot of different characters, crime… it works and it’s a good mix. The season premiere airs tonight on USA. Check it out!
