Sheryl Crow will join ABC’s Cougar Town for several episodes.
Crow will reportedly play the role of Grayson’s new girlfriend who is a wine distributor. Played by Josh Hopkins, Grayson is a newly-divorced neighbor to main character Courteney Cox’s Jules Cobb. Tapping Crow to be his girlfriend is a back-track since Grayson usually enjoys dating younger women and rubbing it in Jules’ face with hilarious consequences.
There is no other detail yet surrounding Crow’s guest appearance but it’s confirmed that she would be in a multiple-episode arc not playing herself. Sheryl Crow made her last TV appearance on 30 Rock as herself. She, along with other musicians, joins Jack Donaghy’s (Alec Baldwin) charity concert to raise fund for his ailing father in musical episode “Kidney Now!”.
Crow is a close friend of Courteney Cox and series creator Bill Lawrence who is known for giving guest roles to friends of his show’s actors.
Cougar Town has been nabbing guest stars left and right. Cox re-teamed with her Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow for an episode of the freshman show last month. The duo spent 10 seasons with each other on the NBC’s massively successful Friends, which ran from 1994 until its retirement in 2004. In the Cougar Town episode, Kudrow played a “nasty dermatologist who digs her claws into Cobb’s ex-husband.”
Cougar Town follows the exploits of Courteney Cox’s newly divorced character as she negotiates the dating scene. The show debuted last September and a month later was picked up for a full season by the network. In January, it was announced that the show would return for a second season.
Cougar Town stars Courteney Cox, Christa Miller, Busy Philipps, Brian Van Holt, Dan Byrd, Ian Gomez, and Josh Hopkins; and airs on Wednesday nights.
ABC announced last month that it would bring back Cougar Town, The Middle and Modern Family for a second season.
