While I’m sure we’d all have loved to be at The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas, there was a viable alternative for us over at TBS. The Network displayed four comedy specials that had all sorts of big named comedy stars. From Ellen to Cheech and Chong, here’s what came up for the line up.
First up we had Ellen’s Even Bigger Really Big Show. While the title was quite a mouthful, the show actually had a number feature performers (hand picked by Ellen!) from across the globe. Unique performances and other acts will came from a number of countries including Spain, Russia, and Germany. That included award-winning magician Hans Klok, some celebrity impressionists, dancers, comedy skits, musical acts and a few more as well!
My personal favorite special though had to be from the now-famous master comedian and impressionist Frank Caliendo. I had never heard of him until Frank TV hit the airwaves, but I love his show and I made sure to tune in for this one. He chronicled an hour of his favorite funny movie scenes from the past year. To top it off he’ll also had the announcement for which film the fans decided was the funniest.
Cheech and Chong may have been before my time (the pair was popular on the comedy scene in the 70s and 80s..), but their line up to be roasted by friends and other comedians was absolutely hysterical. The event was hosted by Brad Garrett from Everybody Loves Raymond, and other appearances were made by Tom Arnold, Geraldo Rivera as well as comic magicians Penn and Teller as well!
Laffapalooza was also worth seeing on TBS as well, and was hosted by Tracy Morgan (I’m not a big fan but admittedly he was in his element here). Also showing up that night was Mark Curry, Sheryl Underwood, Earthquake (?), Corey Holcomb and Lavell Crawford.
