Larry the Cable Guy is hitting the road, but this time he won’t be doing stand up. Instead, he’ll be traveling from the Oregon Trail to the Grand Canyon, crossing the Delaware and searching for gold in the hills of California, as he sets out to explore the U.S. The new 13 episode series, Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, is expected to premiere this summer on The History Channel.
In each episode of Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, Larry will visit historical sites cross the country while immersing himself into various jobs and hobbies that reveal different ways of life in different parts of the country. The show will be a mixture of history lessons and Larry’s own special brand of humor.
“Larry the Cable Guy wows audiences across the country with his unique brand of humor and quirky take on America, said Nancy Dubuc, president and GM of History. “We are thrilled to welcome him to HISTORY in what promises to be a genre-busting series that takes a look at history like you’ve never seen it before.”
Larry the Cable Guy was propelled to stardom when he joined the Blue Collar Comedy Tour (along with Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall). The tour was a huge success, earning a spot on the Forbes’ Top 120™ Celebrity Money-Makers list in 2007 thanks to huge ticket sales, merchandising, books, comedy records, and movies.
History has been making an effort to expand its brand through other reality shows such as “Pawn Stars” and “Madhouse” also.
