“The Wanted” is a new show that NBC is premiering tonight and critics are uneasy about the reactions to the show.
A group of private individuals concerned about the threat of international terrorism join forces to hunt down persons known to be part of terrorist organizations or movements. But the premise behind the manhunt isn’t exactly your typical idea of a manhunt.
But this show is part reality, part TV ideas.
The men behind the show are hunting terrorists. “The Wanted features a team of former military covert operatives, intelligence officials and prosecutors put together by Adam Ciralsky, an NBC News producer and former CIA lawyer who is also the show’s creator and on-camera host. The objective might be called armed advocacy journalism.
”Eighteen months ago, I started a compiling a list of people charged with terrorism and war crimes, who are living freely in the United States and Europe,” Ciralsky says as he introduces the show. “I’m bringing together a team of elite operatives to shine a light on these suspects and hopefully see justice done.”
Critics say that this show falls flat. Check it out tonight and let me know what you think.
