I’ve long given up hope that reality TV was a fad, that all of this awful programming involving a bunch of girls screaming at each other or a kid with a fat inheritance blowing money in frivolous stuff complaining the whole way. There’s just too much demand for it, and that doesn’t appear to be waning anytime soon, despite slight drops in ratings for reality juggernauts like American Idol. It looks like CBS is just as aware of that fact as I am, and is charging up it’s reality TV lineup with it’s latest pilot of a racing series called “Thunder Road”. The producer of the show? McG (I never got the name).
As you might guess, Thunder Road will involve two racing teams. They’ll have to drive through a course filled with challenging obstacles. Not as challenging as Death Race I’d wager, but enough to keep us on the edge of our seat for a little while. Other reality series showing up on the network include “Bucket List” by Mark Burnett and Jeff Probst and “Live Like You’re Dying.” The latter of which I’m not familiar with and not sure that I want to be, either.
If you’re not familiar with McG, he’s got a number of small screen credits to his name. These include “Chuck” and (hahahah) “Pussycat Dolls: Girlicious.” Not sure if I’d put that one on my resume…
