Great satellite TV/cable advice. Although, I must admit, I don’t watch that much TV anymore. I can send this over to my mom, she and my dad are TV buffs!
This is a guest post written by Mr Credit Card. Mr Credit Card does credit cards reviews on his site. One of the key highlights on his site is that he has compiled a list of the best credit card deals. Today, he is going to write about how to save money from our satellite tv purchases.
I would like to thank Satellite TV Guru for having me do this guest post. Today I’m going to tell you a few ways which you can save money on your monthly cable or satellite bills and also when you first purchase your TV box.
Save On Your Monthly Bills – Whether you subscribe to Comcast, Verizon, Direct TV or Netflix, you will be billed a monthly fee. From my perspective, you always want to be paying these bills on time because your credit score will be affected if you do not pay on time.
But here is one way to save money on these monthly bills. Pay your bills via your credit card. In fact, put them on autopay so that you do not forget every month. But you will really get the benefit from autpay with your credit card if you use a cash back credit card, which typically pays 1% rebates for every dollar that you spend on the card. Some even pay more than 1% on utilities!
Watch for Online Discounts – These days, many credit cards have their own online shopping portal. For example, you can choose to go to bestbuy.com and buy stuff online. Alternatively, as an example, if you have a Discover Card, you can go to bestbuy.com through their online portal called shopdiscover.com. If you do it this way, you can get a 5% rebate when you use your Discover card this way. That’s like getting a 5% discount.
Use Coupons – Before you go out buying your next plasma or LCD or satellite tv, search the net for coupons. It never hurts to get a few dollars or % discounts. They all add up.
Consider 0% credit cards – As someone who always pay their bills on time, I would normally not advocate this. But if you can pay in cash for your new TV or satellite tv, you can always get 0% Interest Credit Cards and spread out your payments over 6 months or 12 months.
The way these cards work is that you are charged no interest for a fixed period. But you do have to make minimum payments which may be as high as 4% of your balance. This is a good way to earn interest on the cash that you would have to pay for your purchase anyway.
Online Comparison Shopping – If you are subscribing to cable, or getting DISH Network, chances are that there is no price difference. However, if you are buying a higher end Tv like a plasma or LCD, then it pays to shop online and get the best deals.
Do Your Research – When you are investing in a high end TV or even deciding between cable or satellite tv, always do your homework before buying. You need to know what channels are available, and whether you are paying the right price for quality.
For example, Satellite TV Guru here has written up very good high end plasma tv reviews.
Anyway, I’ll stop here and hope you found these tips useful.
