Rumors that T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl are leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” have been swirling for years but now we may actually have confirmation that the end is near.
It is no secret that T.R. Knight has been trying to get out of his contract at “Grey’s” for some time, citing frustration with the direction of his character as his reason for wanting out. In December, reports surfaced that he had already said his good-byes to some of the crew. Heigl is also no stranger to negotiations at “GA”. In 2007, Heigl was open about a feud with execs at “Grey’s” over her salary. She tried to leave the show at that time but was contractually obligated to stay.
James Pickens who plays “The Chief” on the ABC hit told Us Weekly, “Yes, she is,” when asked if Heigl will exit the show. “Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best.” When asked about Knight, Pickens replied, “He’s going to.”
The network denies the rumors and the actors’ reps refuse to comment. Insiders say that both have again asked to leave the show and it is likely that they will be gone by the end of the current season. Another source told E! Online, “I don’t think James meant to say what he did,” of the Us Weekly interview. “I think he was thrown by the line of questioning and didn’t realize what he was saying.”
Various media reports say that Heigl’s character will be killed off in the final episode of the season. That might explain where her weird mentally unstable storyline is headed. But there haven’t been any reports about how T.R. Knight’s character will exit the show.
