Twilight star Rachelle Lefevre has just signed on to join the cast of CBS’ Untitled Medical Drama from producer John Wells, sources confirmed to EW today.

The show revolves around a team of medical professionals who travel the country helping those in desperate need of assistance. Lefevre will play Katy, a smart and confident medical “road warrior” who’s more comfortable working in the field than in the office. Amy Smart has also signed on for the series.

Lefevre is no stranger to TV. She has also appeared in What About Brian, Boston Legal, Swingtown and The Deep End.

Plus, Rachelle will have plenty of time for her new show since she her role as Victoria in the the next Twilight film, Eclipse, has been taken over by Bryce Dallas Howard.

Rachelle also has an odd connection to American Idol’s Top 24. She Tweeted the following last night: “An old friend Didi is a finalist on A-Idol! Please show her luv-she’s an awesome girl who has worked so hard & is a true talent!”

A new series, a friend on American Idol, it looks like Rachelle is doing OK since leaving her star-making role as a bloodsucker.
