This will be the last season for Tyra Banks’ talk show. “This will be the last season of The Tyra Show,” 36-year-old Banks told People. “I’ve been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years.”
The Tyra Banks Show, which has been on the air for five seasons and has won two Daytime Emmys, will wrap in spring 2010, after which the model-turned-TV host/entrepreneur will focus on the launch of a film company, Bankable Studios. The company is currently reviewing projects which will empower women. “My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are,” Banks says.
Banks’ announcement comes one month after her longtime mentor Oprah Winfrey announced she was also leaving daytime television. “With Oprah’s big announcement this year, I think that gave Tyra the confidence to get out there and follow her longtime dream of film producing,” an anonymous source told People.
Banks will remain a part of America’s Next Top Model, which she produces and hosts, and ABC’s True Beauty, which she also produces. “There’s a lot cooking right now and a lot of fire burning in my heart,” Banks writes in an open letter on her Web site. “And I salute you my amazing family of viewers; without you there never would have been a Tyra Show. I really love you all.”
