As we mentioned earlier in the week, Growing Pain’s actor, Andrew Koenig, had been missing since Feb. 14. Tragically, today he was found dead in Vancouver, Canada.
Koening’s body was found in Vancouver’s Stanley Park around noon. Family and friends had been searching the park which was a favorite hang out of Koening’s.
Koenig’s parents made headlines yesterday after they walked off an appearance on Larry King Live hours after issuing an emotional plea to their son to contact them. “We just want to know you’re OK,” Walter Koenig said during the news conference.
During a second news conference this afternoon, Walter Koenig delivered the sad news that they had found his son’s body and it appeared he had committed suicide.
Both Walter and Judith Levitt Koenig reached out to those who are feeling depressed in hopes that they learn from Andrew’s death and realize there are people out there who care. They believe that their son didn’t think anyone cared about him but pointed out that this incident had proven his theory wrong. The distraught parents also encouraged others to reach out to anyone in their life who showed signs of depression.
