Army Wives is a show on Lifetime, a drama about army wives and the things they deal with when their soldier husbands are deployed. The main characters are Roxy (Sally Pressman), Claudia Joy (Kim Delaney), Denise (Catherine Bell), Joan (Wendy Davis) and Pamela (Brigid Brannagh). Throughout the season, they face all sorts of challenges trying to fit in, stay connected to their soldier spouses and abide by strict military traditions. Season two brought infidelity, family drama, sizzling romance, ruthless rivalries, shocking rumors and heartbreaking deployments.
The series was created by Mark Gordon, currently the executive producer on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and CBS’s Criminal Minds. He channeled that success into Army Wives, which premiered on Lifetime on June 3, 2007. The show had the largest series premiere in Lifetime’s 23-year history. The show’s popularity has declined slightly, down 22% in viewership. While the show targets the base demographic of Lifetime viewers, it remains to be seen if the show can draw back viewers. The show does do a great job of relating with military life. As we all know, it’s been tough of late and the show tries to convey real-life situations into the show. Not only is it entertaining but it also serves as a tribute to the soldiers’ wives in real life and what they sacrifice to keep our country safe as well.
