The third season of Dexter left us with him marrying a pregnant Rita, leaving season four open to many storylines. For those new to the show, Dexter Morgan is a Miami Metro Police Department blood spatter analyst who leads two different lives. By day, he’s an analyst who helps the homicide division solve murders. By night, he takes on a vigilante role, hunting and killing baddies who slip through the justice system. This juxtaposition of the blood-analyst-by-day-serial-killer-by-night has made this show a hit among viewers.
The first episode addresses his struggle to maintain his dual life. Not only does he have to deal with married life, but while the department is busier with more murders, he also has to satiate his killer craving. Leave it to ShowTime to keep us on the edge our seats throughout the season.
Dexter Morgan is played by Michael C. Hall who’s name first became recognized in HBO’s series Six Feet Under. His wife on the show is Rita Bennett (played by Julie Benz). Rita has found happiness for herself and her family with Dexter after surviving a violent ex-husband. Angel Batista (played by David Zayas) is a fellow homicide detective who works with Dexter. While he has a strong distaste killing, he ironically appreciates the art of murder. Along with other regular cast members, season 4 boasts appearances from John Lithgow as well as Keith Carradine as Agent Lundy.
The season premiere airs on Sunday September 27 at 9/8 pm on ShowTime with new shows every Sunday. Encore broadcasts of episodes are available on ShowTime but check your local listings or on the ShowTime website.
