The mid-season premiere of South Park Season 13 is only 11 days away (Oct. 7) and I can hardly wait. For those who are unfamiliar with South Park (you must be living under a rock if you don’t), it is an animated series about four boys in a small Colorado town.
Airing on Comedy Central, it the show is not for the faint of heart–it has tons of racial slurs, swearing, and just plain shocking sometimes. The show started in 1997 and has grown into a huge success. Because each episode is computer-generated, it only takes about four days to make a 30-minute show. This allows the producers to parody current events with such efficiency. If you peel back the crudeness of the show, you’ll find that there’s always some sort of message to the story, a moral for all us adults who still watch animated shows.
The show angers both right and left-wing politicians, animal groups, religious leaders, and parental groups. Yet it is still critically acclaimed by Time and Rolling Stone. It has been nominated for an Emmy 8 out of 12 years it has been on the air. Season 13 is sure to be filled with more laughs, and fans can’t wait for Wednesdays to come around.
The South Park mid-season premiere is on Wednesday, October 7th at 10/9 pm on Comedy Central. New episodes air on Wednesdays at the same time for weeks to come. If you happen to miss on or want to rewatch an episode, you can visit the following sites:
