Last night, Mark-Paul Gosselaar became expediently cooler after his TV hall of fame-worthy appearance on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”. Gosselaar appeared as his “Saved By The Bell” character Zack Morris and even busted out Zack’s “hit” from the show, “Friends Forever”, which he “performed” with The Roots.
Gosselaar, who was appearing on the show to promote the season 2 premiere of his new series, “Raising The Bar”, walked out onto Jimmy’s stage dressed as Zack in a preppy blond wig, white high tops, acid-washed jeans and completed the outfit with a huge cell phone. Throughout the interview he often addressed the camera directly just like he did on the 90’s teen hit.
When asked he was up to these days, Zack explained that he became an actor after graduating from Bayside High. “I had to change my name to Mark-Paul Gosselaar because there was already a Zack Morris in SAG,” he explained. He also reminisced about working at the Malibu Sands and broke the news that his marriage to Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Amber Thiessan) had ended in divorce.
The bit was orchastrated as part of Jimmy’s quest to bring the entire cast of “Saved By the Bell” together for a reunion on his show. At the end of the interview, Zack did of course commit to what he dubbed “a class reunion” on the show, as did Jessie (Elizabeth Berkley). The only hold outs now are Screech (Dustin Diamond) and Kelly. If you want to help bring the gang together, sign Jimmy’s petition now!
