Ellen Pompeo’s growing baby bump may cause complications for her on screen alterego, Meredith Grey on Grey’s Anatomy. It is unclear how the show’s writers will handle Pompeo’s pregnancy but they don’t have much time to decide. The show begins filming season six on July 15th and Pompeo isn’t due until later this fall.
E! recently revealed that they are currently looking for actors to play guest roles in the first episode. One role is of particular interest: Producers are looking for someone to play a Catholic priest in his 60s.
E! speculated this may mean Meredith and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) are finally getting married (for real). It would be a convenient solution to the baby bump issue.
My guess is that the priest is not for Meredith and Derek but for George’s funeral considering T.R. Knight has already confirmed he won’t be returning to the show. Of course, the priest could simply be a patient too. What do you think? Is the priest for a wedding, a funeral or neither?
In other Grey’s news, McDreamy and McSteamy have both signed on for Valentine’s Day. Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane have joined director Garry Marshall’s ensemble big screen comedy. Dane will play a Brett Favre-esque quarterback, and Dempsey will play a cheating doctor in this collection of intersecting romances, alongside Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Shirley MacLaine, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, Topher Grace, Emma Roberts and Hector Elizondo.
