Well the rest of America was mourning Michael Jackson today, I was rejoicing at the announcement that Bravo has officially picked up The Real Housewives of New York City for a third season. The announcement wasn’t a total surprise since season two did have good ratings and the ladies certainly created a buzz with their screaming match, er, Reunion Special last spring.
What was a surprise was the revelation that is a casting call happening in NYC for a new housewife. The network is looking for a new lady to join the series which probably means one of the current ladies is out. Though none of the current cast has said they are leaving the show, it can be assumed that one of them will be saying good bye since there are already six regulars and it is unlikely the network would add to that number.
Its assumed that the Kelly Bensimon is out. She was the least liked of all the housewives though she did have a way of stirring up drama which usually equals ratings. We’ll know soon enough since the show begins filming this fall and will debut on Bravo in the spring of 2010.
